Xchofica first joined RetroMC on Fri, 25 November 2022, and created a home for herself in the following days.  Having no additional members to help her in this, and only a handful of distant neighbors at best, she built up this area alone, creating in a main building, dubbed the ''Lodge'', a mine, a tree farm, and then a tower, before later leaving this settlement to join uwu.

The Old Lodge was designed to be built quickly, perched atop an area of natural land generation.  When prompted on it, Xchofica has stated: "I was wading across this wide lake here, trying to find suitable land, and seen this really quite stunning archway over yonder and thought, 'You know, that looks about wide enough for a small home,' so I went up there and built the Lodge." She has since admitted regret for its design, stating, "I was in a bit of a rush to get it done, thinking 'Oh, this'll be some temporary thing that I'll redesign later,' or tear it down and move somewhere else if I needed to.  But because I made it so large, I felt it would've taken too much effort to do either, and I've since left it up there. I know it's not too terrible, but for me it's really an eyesore, and I keep it around as both a reminder of where I came from, and how I have to follow through with my own future projects in order to make things I can feel proud of."

Some time during September or October 2023, Xchofica asked ospence5 if she could check out the village of uwu.  Another player she had recently become friends with, {{user-nonwiki|TransGirlsRCute}}<sup><i>[note: you may want to check her [https://statistics.retromc.org/player/6bbba796-0da8-46bc-8ce7-a84cff1b6111 J-Stats<sup>2</sup> page]]</i></sup>, was also online.  The two partnered together to visit uwu, accompianed alongside uwuians<sup><i>[[#footnotes|[2]]]</i></sup> {{user|ospence5}} and {{user-nonwiki|Niterux}}.  The two were accepted almost immediately; after only a short tour around uwu they were given citizenship via an invite.

During the holiday season of 2024~2025, many new players became active as is common for RetroMC during such a time.  internetdeer, being an active member of yaoiville―a town with explicit support<i><sup>[https://wiki.retromc.org/File:Uwu-4.png]</sup></i> for LGBTQ+ folk</i>―became friends with many of these new players who were queer in one way or another, and invited them to yaoiville.  She believed it would be easier for these new players to start if given the opportunity to network with other alike players in a town which reflected their culture.
 
This influx of new players to yaoiville brought it to a frenzy of activity, sprawled across everything from builds in the town on RetroMC to a dedicated Discord server created by {{user|ospence5}}.  Although internetdeer was an Assistant in the town, she never agreed to moderate the town's Discord server and was rarely active in it to begin with.
 
Due to external factors in her off-line life, she began to feel a growing sense of unease around her use of social networks, noticing her reliance of purely on-line activities in order to maintain her happiness and wellbeing. Feeling hesitant over some of her new acquaintances, she began to play on RetroMC less and less.  Before long, she formally entered a hiatus with (among many things) the closure of her Discord account and exodus from RetroMC.
 
During this time, the yaoiville Discord server experienced a large splintering. Some of the members posted ''explicit'' messages directly to other members which were ''minors'', resulting in the permanent banning of at least two RetroMC players and the dislodging of every other member of the town.  To this day, yaoiville remains dead.
 
When internetdeer came back to RetroMC after several months, she was confused as to why so many of her old friends were offline, and after a couple private discussions with RetroMC staff she became aware of the full story she had not participated in.  This did not help her mental health, stating,
 
''"I feel like I [had] to shoulder blame for allowing this kind of thing to happen.  I had my own doubts and fears but I thought those were normal, general life feelings, you know?  I thought they were condemnations of everything else in my life I needed to fix.  So I thought the most responsible way of working on those fears was to retreat and do it on my own.  It wasn't, I should've confided in friends, I should've gone to people I trust."
 
Her hiatus continued for roughly two years.  Away from this, internetdeer sought many new friendships and support local to her physical, off-line life. Renewed and healed, she closed her hiatus from RetroMC around July 2026.
 
== Creating CritterZone ==
 
Upon returning to RetroMC, she once again sought out new friendships, avoiding newer players in preference of frequenters.  For a short time, she worked with the [[NorthernEmpires_(Nation)|Northern Empires]], assisting in some builds and making friendships with players such as {{user|MKGuinea}}, {{user|Spencer199}}, {{user|2econd2ight2eer}}, {{user|crazyfish292929}}, {{user|everminingkid}}.  Because most of the development for [[NorthernEmpires|NorthernEmpires (the village itself, not the Nation)]] during this time was focused on PvP events and an external Discord server for the town/nation/empire <sup>(can they please just make a better distinction between their heirarchy already)</sup>, internetdeer felt like the town was not a great fit for her play-style.  Remarking to some off-line friends about the whole thing, she stated:
''"The last thing I want to do is repeat the Discord Torment Nexus World Tour™ by forcing myself to stay in places that communicate near exclusively on 'net sites like that."''  She shifted her focus onto developing a new area, and named it ''[[CritterZone.]]''
 
[[CritterZone]] began with the flattening of a peninsula near one of internetdeer's numerous unofficial-official outposts ''[[Aywell]]'', a miniscule base situated in a barren tundra.  She recruited several friends to aid her in this flattening process, including {{user|Mew_Shrew}}, {{user|crazyfish292929}}, {{user|SushiSasha003}}, {{user|jozf88}}, {{user|Spencer199}}.  Some other players which assisted include {{user|s1nfulClouds}}, {{user|sheep270}}, {{user|HanSolo20}}, {{user|2econd2ight2eer}}. All of these players were granted citizenship in CritterZone.
 
internetdeer created [[CritterZone]] with the intention of it being a welcoming place for queer players, [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Otherkin nonhuman players], musicians, artists, and much more.

As a returning of favors to {{user|crazyfish292929}} for his assistance in creating [[CritterZone]], internetdeer offered to join Fish's "newly" created town of [[Canada]].  Fish (presumably) returned yet another favour by offering her an inclusion to the Canadian Council when she was attending one of their meetings as a spectator, and as such she is now an Assistant in [[Canada]].

She ended up getting her first ban shortly after, attempting to replace a considerable number of torches on a nearby bridge, and as a result was not able to move nor modify her unfinished Tower in yaoiville for a few months. Her ban appeal was later accepted.

After rejoining the server, she moved her Tower to the other side of yaoiville, known locally as Old uwu. After completing this home, she built a stone slab pathway to connect it to the rest of Old uwu, with a sign down near the path's start stating: tower of deer (real). Signs in front of the Tower state:

Initial Hiatus

During the holiday season of 2024~2025, many new players became active as is common for RetroMC during such a time. internetdeer, being an active member of yaoiville―a town with explicit support[1] for LGBTQ+ folk―became friends with many of these new players who were queer in one way or another, and invited them to yaoiville. She believed it would be easier for these new players to start if given the opportunity to network with other alike players in a town which reflected their culture.

This influx of new players to yaoiville brought it to a frenzy of activity, sprawled across everything from builds in the town on RetroMC to a dedicated Discord server created by 16.png ospence5. Although internetdeer was an Assistant in the town, she never agreed to moderate the town's Discord server and was rarely active in it to begin with.

Due to external factors in her off-line life, she began to feel a growing sense of unease around her use of social networks, noticing her reliance of purely on-line activities in order to maintain her happiness and wellbeing. Feeling hesitant over some of her new acquaintances, she began to play on RetroMC less and less. Before long, she formally entered a hiatus with (among many things) the closure of her Discord account and exodus from RetroMC.

During this time, the yaoiville Discord server experienced a large splintering. Some of the members posted explicit messages directly to other members which were minors, resulting in the permanent banning of at least two RetroMC players and the dislodging of every other member of the town. To this day, yaoiville remains dead.

When internetdeer came back to RetroMC after several months, she was confused as to why so many of her old friends were offline, and after a couple private discussions with RetroMC staff she became aware of the full story she had not participated in. This did not help her mental health, stating,

"I feel like I [had] to shoulder blame for allowing this kind of thing to happen. I had my own doubts and fears but I thought those were normal, general life feelings, you know? I thought they were condemnations of everything else in my life I needed to fix. So I thought the most responsible way of working on those fears was to retreat and do it on my own. It wasn't, I should've confided in friends, I should've gone to people I trust."

Her hiatus continued for roughly two years. Away from this, internetdeer sought many new friendships and support local to her physical, off-line life. Renewed and healed, she closed her hiatus from RetroMC around July 2026.

Creating CritterZone

Upon returning to RetroMC, she once again sought out new friendships, avoiding newer players in preference of frequenters. For a short time, she worked with the Northern Empires, assisting in some builds and making friendships with players such as 16.png MKGuinea, 16.png Spencer199, 16.png 2econd2ight2eer, 16.png crazyfish292929, 16.png everminingkid. Because most of the development for NorthernEmpires (the village itself, not the Nation) during this time was focused on PvP events and an external Discord server for the town/nation/empire (can they please just make a better distinction between their heirarchy already), internetdeer felt like the town was not a great fit for her play-style. Remarking to some off-line friends about the whole thing, she stated: "The last thing I want to do is repeat the Discord Torment Nexus World Tour™ by forcing myself to stay in places that communicate near exclusively on 'net sites like that." She shifted her focus onto developing a new area, and named it CritterZone.

CritterZone began with the flattening of a peninsula near one of internetdeer's numerous unofficial-official outposts Aywell, a miniscule base situated in a barren tundra. She recruited several friends to aid her in this flattening process, including 16.png Mew_Shrew, 16.png crazyfish292929, 16.png SushiSasha003, 16.png jozf88, 16.png Spencer199. Some other players which assisted include 16.png s1nfulClouds, 16.png sheep270, 16.png HanSolo20, 16.png 2econd2ight2eer. All of these players were granted citizenship in CritterZone.

internetdeer created CritterZone with the intention of it being a welcoming place for queer players, nonhuman players, musicians, artists, and much more.

Joining Canada

As a returning of favors to 16.png crazyfish292929 for his assistance in creating CritterZone, internetdeer offered to join Fish's "newly" created town of Canada. Fish (presumably) returned yet another favour by offering her an inclusion to the Canadian Council when she was attending one of their meetings as a spectator, and as such she is now an Assistant in Canada.

Joining Mineville

After kindling a friendship with 16.png everminingkid during a play-session with 16.png crazyfish292929, she was invited to Mineville. Her contributions to the town currently include the My Movie.wmv cube, and an ongoing library/multi-use skyscraper project.

Trivia

Colloquialisms

internetdeer has a habit of "pluralising" words, i.e, adding -s or -es to words indiscriminately, because she feels it is cute. She also will call other players girlie, gurl, or sis from time to time as a way of gently pushing back against the use of bro as the default label for players.

FOSS Advocacy

internetdeer is an avid user and proponent of free and open source software, having used GNU/Linux since 2007, and "daily-driven" since early 2014. From time to time, she makes frequent encouragements to players to switch to Linux and other non-proprietary operating systems, as well as minimizing their use of proprietary software where possible. If she can offer her help, players are welcome to ask her for support with FOSS software.
