Key Events from Inception to Present
Below is a chronological timeline capturing the significant milestones, achievements, and key events in the history of RetroMC and BetaLands from their creation to the present day.
2014
- 18 June 2014: RetroMC is originally created by SpaceWolfE (SuperSheriff).
2016
- 9 September 2016: RetroMC is shut down unexpectedly. Communication attempts with the old owner went unanswered.
2017
- Early 2017: RetroMC is restarted by JohnyMuffin and advertised in the former Oak Glen (Previous RetroMC Town) Discord.
- November 2017: RetroMC is publically advertised on Planet Minecraft and the Minecraft Forums.
2018
- 13 April 2018: BetaLands (owned by Sweetz) and RetroMC merge forming RetroLands.
- 3 June 2018: RetroMC and BetaLands split due to differing opinions of Sweetz and Johny.
2019
- 8 December 2019: RetroMC acquires BetaLands.
2022
- 25 December 2022: JVillage is rolled out as a replacement to Towny.
2023
- 7 May 2023: notsui launched the wiki. Soon after, CruxyMC, Noggisoggi, thecow275 and et al started documenting stuff on it.
- 26 June 2023: The RetroMC Staff Policy Manual was drafted.
- 7 July 2023: BetaLands' shutdown is announced.
- 1 September 2023: The BetaLands Sendoff event occured; it shut down for the public, but it still remains accessible by staff members for transfers.
2024
- 2 March 2024: The deadline for BetaLands transfers ended, and the server actually shut down.
- 18 June 2024: RetroMC will celebrate being 10 years old.
