The second NorthernEmpires PVP Tournament took place on 12 September 2026. It was organized by staff of the NorthernEmpires village, with NE owner 16.png SFRricraz63 and NE assistant 16.png HanSolo20 hosting the event. The chosen venue was the 'Temple of Champions', built by 16.png TERRIXXA and located in NE's City of Champions district. Due to the large number of players participating in the event, it was split into a group stage and final playoffs. All 8 finalists recieved a cash prize, partly from server funds. The winner was 16.png SFRricraz63, with 16.png zavdav in 2nd and 16.png Pittofer in 3rd place.

Background

On 8 November, NorthernEmpires hosted its first PVP tournament in the specially renovated Nordran Coliseum. This event, which attracted 10 participants and many spectators, was considered a massive success. Building upon its reputation for hosting several community events, NorthernEmpires decided to return to the successful PVP duel tournament formula in 2026, around 10 months after the original tournament.

Format

The first NorthernEmpires PVP tournament in 2025 was organized as a 10 player round robin tournament, meaning that each of the 10 participants would fight a duel to the death against every other participant exactly once, though three tiebreak matches were required to determine 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place.

This format was not suitable for the second NE PVP tournament, due to the number of participants being higher at 14. A pure round robin tournament would have taken far too long, which is why organizer 16.png HanSolo20 opted to use a hybrid approach. First, for the group stage, the 14 participants were split into two groups of 7 players each, who then fought a regular round robin against each other. This was then followed by a select few tiebreak matches to determine the best 4 players out of each group who would advance to the playoffs. The playoffs consistent of an 8 player single-elimination tournament, with 4 quarterfinals, 2 semifinals, a match between the semifinal losers to determine 3rd and 4th place, and the final between the two semifinal winners to determine 1st and 2nd place.
