Removed features
These features existed at one point but were removed from the server.
Features
BigBrother
The server's first block logging and grief rollback plugin, which was introduced upon the server's launch in 2014.
BigBrother was removed for a variety of stability and security concerns sometime in mid-2018, and LogBlock was its successor.
BetaLands
This has its own page, but in short, the reasons for its shutdown were:
- Simplification of maintenance and day-to-day operations by reducing administrative burden and footprint.
- Barely had any updates in 2022-2023 and lacked feature parity with RetroMC.
- Low player count, with an average player count one-tenth that of RetroMC.
Lockette
The first plugin used for container and door protection; this protection method utilized signs.
A player would place down a sign with the first line having [Private]
& then, the sign would be then automatically placed onto the container/door.
This plugin is most commonly found on other legacy servers and was eventually removed off of the server sometime in mid-2019, due to LWC being superior.
Towny
A chunk-claiming plugin that was plagued with instability, and was replaced by JVillage in December 2022.
Town claim availability was proportional to member count (more members meant more claim availability).
Nations (group of towns) existed, and additionally, commands for town-specific and nation-specific chats existed.
However, Towny didn't allow players to be members in more than one town at a time.
Cactus and sugar cane economy
This old form of economy was referred to as "cactus economy" and "cane economy." In January of 2019, cactus and sugar cane were removed from the admin shop, making the economy more player based. Additionally, all player balances were cut in half or more depending on how the player had.
LWC: Magnet flag
An LWC feature that was disabled on the server, as there is no records of it being mentioned after the 19th of May 2019.
The feature allowed users to turn a chest into what functioned similarly to a modern Minecraft hopper, taking in nearby items.
It was disabled due to exploits and mentions of it barely exist; a demonstration video of this feature can be seen here:
