Squid Peaks is a town that was created owned by
Shampooboots, now under control of
Villager263 and North Squid Peaks. It was established as a town on April 17, 2024, although its history dates back nearly eight months prior. The former capital is located on Mt. Squidra, the centre of North Squid Peaks. The name is inspired by Squidward Q. Tentacles from hit TV series SpongeBob SquarePants, and is worshiped as a god.
Early History
Squid Peaks originally started as a hole for Shampooboots to survive the night in, sometime around August 2023. Soon enough, this became a settlement for them. Boots extended out a grass platform to make more for land in the high altitudes. Boots showed their settlement off to a couple of people, who would then build a town hall and some houses down Mt. Squidra. They had even created a constitution, as shown later. The Founding Fathers of Squid Peaks are: Shampooboots, minecrafter2145, filfthydog1220, everyman, TellTheL, and Principal Skinner. On April 17th, 2024, Squid Peaks was officially incorporated as a village by Shampooboots, marking an end to the early era of Squid Peaks.
Territorial Disintegration, the North Squid Peaks Crisis, and Reunification
In mid-November, 2024,
Villager263 accepted the invitation to Squid Peaks citizenship. Upon joining, Shampooboots instructed
Villager263 to build along the outskirts of the town. However, after constructing his base,
Villager263 realised that the area in which he was instructed to build was not protected under Squid Peak's claimed territory.
Villager263 thus argued that the Squid Peaks state had violated the Social Contract as espoused by John Locke in "Two Treatises of Government," a foundational theory for modern Western political theory and governmental institutions. Since Squid Peaks had failed to protect and uphold the rights of its Northern Citizens, according to John Locke, the state had forgone its legitimacy and right to govern.
On this basis,
Villager263 declared independence from Squid Peaks on November 19th, 2024, and established the independent town of North Squid Peaks. With no opposition,
Villager263 was free to declare himself Caesar. A demilitarised zone was quickly erected to define the borders of the two sovereign nations.

Immediately following Independence, North Squid Peaks went on to form a colonial empire. North Squid Peaks has a particularly close relationship with the town of Valencia and their King,

On January 5th, 2025, Caesar Villager263 accepted an invitation to meet with Shampooboots in the North Squid Peaks Independence building to negotiate terms for reunification. The meeting lasted throughout the night. Multiple proposals were raised and rejected, many shots of the finest aged whiskey were consumed, and haters grew increasingly skeptical of the prospect of unification. However, at daybreak, as the rosy-fingered dawn appeared, with her came not only the sun, bringing light to all the world, but also an agreement finally struck between the two leaders. It was agreed that North Squid Peaks' territory was to be claimed by Shampooboots, absorbing the land into Squid Peaks. However, North Squid Peaks would maintain absolute autonomy and would not be bound by the Constitution of Squid Peaks.
However, on Jan 29th, 2025, Villager263 recognized the greater power of Squid Peaks. North Squid Peaks is now simply a district of the state of Squid Peaks, but with Villager263 still holding the powers of Caesar.
The Constitutions and Political Systems of the Two Sister States

Squid Peaks claims to be a democracy and its leader, Shampooboots, does not style himself as a King nor tyrannise his subjects. The Squid Peaks Constitution is as follows:
1. No Griefing
2. No RDM
3. Love thy neighbour
4. Squid Peaks is democratic
5. Squidward is your only God

North Squid Peaks, by contrast, is a constitutional monarchy that finely blends elements of democracy and monarchy. The North Squid Peaks Constitution is as follows:
1. The sovereignty of the North Squid Peaks and her Parliament shall not be impeded
2. The executive Power shall be vested in Caesar, and he shall hold his office for life.
3. All legislative and judicial powers shall be vested in Parliament
4. Caesar shall reserve the right to call upon or dissolve the parliament at will
5. All citizens of Squid Peaks have the right to participate in sessions of parliament, with each citizen being granted equal vote. A Simple Majority is required for a bill or ruling to proceed to the desk of Caesar
6. All motions of parliament must be ratified by Caesar, who reserves the Power to veto.
According to Caesar Villager263, this constitution ensures that the voices of the people are heard and recognised, but safeguards against tyranny of the majority through its use of an enlightened monarch who protects against irrational enactments.
Moreover, there exist two political parties within the North Squid Peaks Parliament, the Squid Peaks National Party (SPNP) and the North Squid Peaks Independence Party (NSPIP). The SPNP, which sits to the right of Caesar Villager263's throne during Parliamentary sessions, is regarded as the more conservative of the two parties, as expressed through their more traditional building style and resistance to North Squid Peaks independence. The NSPIP, stationed to the left of Caesar's throne, is regarded as more progressive, as expressed by their defiance of traditional authority structures, their avant-garde building style, and their radical party platform.

Religion
STATE RELIGION: KALAISM (THE CULT OF SQUIDWARD TENTACLES)
The Cult of Squidward Tentacles serves as the official state religion of Squidpeaks. It is crucial to note that the term “cult” here is not used in its popular, often negative sense, but rather in its broader meaning, denoting the worship, veneration, and cultivation of a deity. In this case, Squidward Tentacles is recognised as the town’s Patron Deity. The power, prestige, and fortune of the settlement is thus derived from Squidward who, in exchange for worship, provides the town with protection and guidance.
The head priest of the cult is Shampooboots. Although no official cannon or dogma has been formulated, it is generally understood that Shampooboots acts as a mediator between Squidward and SquidPeaks and an arbiter of Squidward’s will, with citizens consequently relying on them to distinguish heresy from orthodoxy.
Several critics have taken issue with Shampooboots’ leadership of the cult, arguing that their rhetoric has grown increasingly radical. On January 23, 2025, Shampooboots claimed to be the incarnation of Squidward. Many citizens from within the church regarded this claim as heretical sacrilege, with some citizens even threatening a schism. While Shampooboots’ religious hegemony has since gone unchallenged, they have, on numerous occasions, disguised themself as the God Squidward and claimed to communicate with him through the chat. This has widely been regarded as blasphemous. The Cult of Squidward Tentacles worships through the Calamarius Church, and a sacrificial pit to provide burnt offerings for the god.

VESTA WORSHIP
In the outskirts of the empire, secluded by ocean and swamp, the Sacred Fire of Vesta burns and will burn forever. The fire appeases the goddess of hearth and home, gifting fertility and warmth to the empire.

The Sacred Fire of Vesta is watched by the Vestal Virgin Goldfish, who values the warmth of the fire and the pleasure it affords Vesta more than their own life. If the Vestal Virgin Goldfish allows the fire to be extinguished, it will be executed by SquidPeaks authorities.

RIVAL CULTS - THE CULT OF THE FLYING SQUID
On January 19th, 2025, the casino district of North Squid Peaks was blessed with the overhead presence of the Flying Squid, understood by many to be a deity. It is believed that the Flying Squid’s visitation was an auspicious omen and signaled that both SquidPeaks and North Squid Peaks were favoured by the gods.
The historian Plutarch described the event in the following manner, “Agreeing to build their casino by the flight of squids of omen, eleven flying squids, they say, were seen by Villager263, and one by Shampooboots. Hence it is that at the present time also the SquidPeakians chiefly regard flying squids when they take auguries from the mobs of the earth. Herodorus Ponticus relates that Hercules also was glad to see a flying squid present itself when he was upon an exploit. For it is the least harmful of all creatures, injures no grain, fruit-tree, or cattle, and lives on carrion. But it does not kill or maltreat anything that has life, Besides, other mobs are, so to speak, always in our eyes, and let themselves be seen continually; but the flying squid is a rare sight, and it is not easy to come upon a flying squid.”
On February 11th, 2025, the Flying Squid again visited North Squid Peaks, flying many times over the bay which has since assumed the name “The Bay of the Holy Flying Squid.” After these repeated visitations, the Flying Squid’s divine status was recognised in North Squid Peaks and “The Cult of the Flying Squid” was formed. Although observers have noted similarities between this cult and The Cult of Josh, head priests of The Cult of Josh have denied that their religions are the same, and rejected proposals of unification.
North Squid Peaks constructed a temple to the Flying Squid, styled after the Pantheon. The spirit of the Flying Squid is said to reside in this temple.

Alliances
Squid Peaks as a whole has made a few alliances. Official ones include the alliances with the towns of NorthBerth and Aero. Embassies have also been built in the towns of Cactus, NorthBerth, and Valencia.

Structures
Ever since the foundation of North Squid Peaks, both nations have ramped up in production of impressive buildings. Including two embassies (in the towns Cactus and Valencia,) a library, and the Church of Squidward.

Conflict with North Squid peaks
In response to SquidPeaks’ denial of their autonomy, by May 2025 North Squid Peaks began to make bold assertions of independence. Nationalist sentiment surged. Innumerable North Squid Peaks flags were raised across her territory, and several more monuments were constructed to memorialise that initial declaration of independence in November 2024. Around this time North Squid Peaks began to militarise, constructing RetroMC’s largest ever cannon, the Nova Basilic, pointing towards SquidPeak’s town hall.

These threats bleed into open conflict when Caesar Villager 263 authorised construction of a large statue of himself towering over North Squid Peaks. Shampooboots fiercely opposed this construction and demanded, as owner and King of Squid Peaks, that Villager263 tear down the monument. Villager263 refused and completed the statue’s construction. Fearing their response, Villager263 was astonished when, that very day Shampooboots was banned from the server.

Shampooboots Banned
Shampooboots, for their loyalty and dedication to the server, was elevated by server admins to moderator status. As Moderator, shampooboots could now fly and ban other players. To the NSPIP, this was seen as a betrayal of North Squid Peaks’ values, which are skeptical of administrator authority, resent ranks and status, and champion wanderers.
It was later revealed that Shampooboots had been abusing moderator privileges to get diamonds. RetroMC moderators, in their rash immaturity, permabanned Shampooboots from the server for this offence. This was generally regarded as unnecessarily harsh. Sever staff, seemingly with sharp sticks within their posterior dorsal region, only ever spoke about Shampooboots in hushed tones following this incident. When the topic was raised, they would invariably respond with the same canned response, “the server has now moved on from Shampooboots.”
Conquest by North Squid Peaks
Following the ban, Villager263 requested admins grant him ownership of the town. Upon approval, Villager263 marched into SquidPeaks with no opposition, and declared himself King. As King of SquidPeaks, Villager263 passed only two declarations. First, he abolished the state of SquidPeaks, which was undisputedly legitimate due to his position as King. Next, he abolished the position of King of SquidPeaks. With this, North Squid Peaks was free to absorb the territory, and a North Squid Peaks flag was raised over the former SquidPeaks Town Hall that very day.
