New Edago Diamond Shortage

The New Edago diamond shortage was a crisis that took hold of the Imperial Coalition town of New Edago in January of 2021. The cause of the crisis was a town resident using x-ray to strip mine for diamonds.

Before the Diamond Shortage

In the weeks leading up to the diamond shortage, New Edago was a new town that had just gotten started. Its residents were still using using iron in their weapons, tools and armor. However, the towns iron age was seemingly lasting longer than it should of - and residents began to take notice.

X-Ray Scandal

Resident and up-and-coming builder, DrKoolAid, was striking it rich in the the diamond mines. He achieved this by using x-ray. The result was a shortage of remaining diamonds in the mines beneath the town. Then-moderator Orknarok launched an investigation after receiving information about a suspiciously frequent string of diamond ore mining by DrKoolAid. The moderator following up with an on-sight investigation. DrKoolAid was banned as a result. The ill-gotten diamonds also had to be destroyed.

Aftermath

In the aftermath the Mayor of New Edago, LukeisStuff, addressed his people: "There are no more Diamonds. [DrKoolAid] cheated. He used xrays to mine over 800 diamonds. All the xrayed diamonds will be destroyed. Our entire town is now diamond drained." This news was devastating for the young town. It meant residents who wanted to increase their chances of finding had to travel far away from their homes. DrKoolAid, in an act of genuine sincerity, wrote a compelling ban appeal and got his permanent ban shortened to a few weeks. He returned to the server after and went on to become one of the most famous builders in Imperial Coalition history.
