BetaEvolutions 2 (BetaEvo 2 or Bevo2) is the successor to BetaEvolutions, released on January 9, 2026. It represents a complete overhaul of the project, focusing on new features, in-game voice communication, and extensibility while continuing to target Beta 1.7.3. The project was developed mainly for RetroMC by the BetaEvolutions development team consisting of
Garsooon,
Grassboii and
JohnyMuffin.
Overview
BetaEvolutions 2 reworks large parts of the client-side experience, introducing new Gui and systems that feel closer to modern Minecraft while remaining faithful to Beta 1.7.3. Unlike BetaEvolutions 1, which focused primarily on fixes and restoration, BetaEvolutions 2 emphasizes quality-of-life improvements like new Gui or F3 menus and social features like a reworked VoIP(voice over IP) system focusing on security and the user experience.

Availability
BetaEvolutions 2 was released on January 9, 2026. The release marks the transition from BetaEvolutions 1 to a more feature-rich and expandable platform, while maintaining full compatibility with legacy BetaEvolution authentication compatible servers.
Development
BetaEvolutions 2 development was started on October 24, 2025, but didn't pick up pace until the decompiler was chosen and any kinks in getting the base game to run were worked out. Development picked up steam around November 8, 2025.
