BetaEvolutions 2 (BetaEvo 2, Bevo2) is the successor to BetaEvolutions, and was released on January 9, 2026, involving a complete overhaul of the project, focus on new features, implentation of in-game voice communication, and extensibility while continuing to target Beta 1.7.3. The project was developed mainly for RetroMC by the BetaEvolutions development team, consisting of 16.png Garsooon, 16.png Grassboii and 16.png JohnyMuffin.

Overview

Large parts of the client-side experience were overhauled, introducing new UIs and modernised systems while remaining faithful to Beta 1.7.3. While v1 focused primarily on fixes and restoration, v2 emphasizes quality-of-life improvements, such as modification of the debug screen menus and social features, such as a reworked voice-over-IP system focusing on security and user experience; legacy BetaEVO server compatibility has been kept. Development was initiated on October 24, 2025, but didn't pick up pace until the decompiler was chosen and any kinks in getting the base game to run were worked out, which was around November 8, 2025, and at that point, development started to pick up steam.

Features

- Fully redesigned in-game settings GUI - In-game VoIP/voice chat support - Player list accessible via Tab key (by default) - Autocompletion in chat via the Tab key - Customizable debug screen - Continued authentication compatibility with RetroMC servers - Internal API improvements for server-side integrations
