RetroMC is a player-versus-environment Minecraft server running on Java Edition Beta 1.7.3 initially founded in 2014, currently owned by  JohnyMuffin. It features a player-based economy with in-game currency, protective land claims and towns/villages via JVillage, minigames, and other in-game infrastructure to aid the community.

Software

RetroMC utliizes Project Poseidon, a modernized fork of CraftBukkit version CB1060 that patches out critical exploits such as those related to duplication, and enables plugins such as LWC, which allows players to protect their containers (chests, furnaces, etc.), and ChestShop, which facilitates player-owned shops. Poseidon also adds UUID support, which allows proper account authentication (for automatic transfers and password resets) and with BetaEvolutions, automatic login is provided.

Hosting

The server is hosted in Canada via cloud service provider OVHcloud, with 24/7 uptime and occasional restarts. The software infrastructure utilizes rolling release updates, preventing the need to shut down regularly for long time periods for server maintenance. It is configured with a Ryzen 7 3800x for the CPU, 128GB of RAM and 2x1TB SSDs.
