Zeno is a town on RetroMC, located at around X=20438 Z=-9408. It was founded on 25 March 2025 by
OustInsurrection.
History
Zeno was originally established as a philosophical town, first established in March 24th of 2025.
Construction
Zeno was built from the Mountainside Staircase outward, starting with the First School of Zeno, to the Garden, then the Cloudwalk.
The first homes built down the mountainside required many hours of terraforming, the small pen-like Ramada and the Mine-house were built very quickly thereafter, where a few plots and 3 pre-built homes were constructed. This was later called 'Upperhomes'
The limits of the land were quickly reached, as the town was built downhill and into a valley near a river, many plots were carved, and a large U-shaped Stoa was built. A large Library; originally the Town Hall, was constructed, and a diplomatic area, called Embassy-Row, was plotted around it.
The shore was reached, so the town was then segmented, a large Amphitheater was built 51 blocks wide just beyond the mountains, which then gave way to the Downtown region.
Culture
Zeno was (originally) built to be a philosophical town, it was named after Zeno of Elea, being a town established around a dominant philosophy, there is a specific philosophical mindset expected to be held throughout Zeno, though it is not enforced in any meaningful manner.
Religion & Philosophy
The dominant philosophy of Zeno is Stoicism, but it is not pure Stoicism, Zeno generally follows an evolving philosophy.
Zeno is generally Secular, though does not prevent the construction or maintenance of Churches, Chapels, Cathedrals, etc. within it's borders. There is freedom to practice any religion, but there is no "Freedom of Religion"
