FishTown War

The FishTown War, originally known as the Attack on FishTown and later the FishTown Dispute, was a conflict between the United Steves of America and NorthernEmpires.

It began on 8 August 2026 with U.S.A.'s involvement in FishTown and concluded on 5 September when the leaders of both nations signed a peace treaty.

Timeline

Background

Following the formation of the United Steves of America on August 7th, 2026, President  Bawhoppen began a campaign of expansion by exerting diplomatic pressure on unaligned towns.

8 August: Prelude and FishTown Incident

 Bawhoppen met with owner of FishTown,  crazyfish292929 on Aug 8th, and discussed the possibility of FishTown joining the United Steves. FishTown's leader did not offer a definite decision, opting to maintain independence for the time being instead. However, Fishtown did state that it was strongly considering its position regarding its national affiliation. Later on Aug 8th, Fishtown declared its allegiance to the NorthernEmpires.

This decision provoked considerable consternation among the United Steves government. On Aug 8th, President  Bawhoppen, personally led a group of U.S. representatives to Fishtown, including  Viric, as well as a U.S.-hired independent contractor,  Graviola_98. Accounts of the following incident are disputed. U.S. sources claim that the party was a peace delegation, which was illegitimately rejected, thus violating U.S. diplomatic sovereignty. Opposing sources cite the incident as a brazen raid. According to this account, for several hours, Fishtown leader  crazyfish292929 was hunted by U.S. officials, being forced to hide in various building throughout the city. All sources agree that at some point in the late hours of Aug 8th, a melee conflict broke out in FishTown between individuals from both sides. The official positions of both sides maintain that they acted in self-defense respectively, and that the other was the aggressor.

9 August: Ceasefire

The street conflict continued for several hours, until the morning of Aug 9th, when a ceasefire was called and peace terms were discussed. The United Steves offered a peace proposal, suggesting that FishTown abandon all national allegiances for a period of 2 weeks, after which it will reconsider its affiliation. FishTown offered a 1-day pause to consider this offer, which was accepted by the U.S.

10 August: Terms rejected

The following day, FishTown declined the peace terms and negotiations broke down, leading to an escalation in hostilities.

11 August: Open Conflict

 SFRricraz63, owner of the NorthernEmpires nation, saw himself obligated to defend FishTown and thus declared war on the United Steves in the early hours of 11 August 2026.

Early in this conflict,  SFRricraz63 and a small army of soldiers under command of the Northern Empires led an ambush on  Bawhoppen at WoolStreet. This force successfully occupied WoolStreet, and briefly captured  Bawhoppen, who fled through a cave to escape. The NE forces did not pursue.

12 August: Nacra Meeting & Capture

Following the outbreak of hostilities among the United Steves and NorthernEmpires, Avalon, under the leadership of  Krissofer, offered to hold a meeting to allow the United Steves to present its case before the international community. This meeting was held in the town of Nacra. The U.S. accepted, and then-Commander-in-Chief  Bawhoppen attended as chief diplomat, alongside a small bodyguard unit. NorthernEmpires also sent a delegation, led directly by  SFRricraz63.

Avalonian mediators allowed U.S. officials to begin with remarks, stating that their official position is that they seek peace between nations, and respect the sovereignty of independent towns like FishTown to choose their allegiance, while also reserving their right to diplomatic relations. They claim that NE illegitimately coerced FishTown into joining the NE, and portray the events of the FishTown Incident a diplomatic endeavor to ensure FishTown was not pressured into joining.

NE leader  SFRricraz63 entered the meeting at this time and disputed these claims. He stated that FishTown had voluntarily joined, and that the U.S. had wrongly attacked a rightful member town of the NorthernEmpires nation. Avalonian mediator  Krissofer suggested peace terms, which the U.S. responded by stating that any pre-condition to peace was a full apology for NE aggression, particularly with regards to the occupation of WoolStreet. This was viewed as an outrageous demand by  SFRricraz63, stating that the U.S. was the aggressor and that the NE acting defensively to itself and its member towns. Feeling insulted,  SFRricraz63 thus exited the meeting.

The U.S. maintained its position in this area, and suggested that as part of a peace treaty, Avalon could neutrally supervise a future democratic vote on FishTown's status. NE officials maintained that FishTown had already exercised its sovereignty and its accession to the NorthernEmpires was legitimate.

Following the conclusion of the meeting, as the U.S. delegation was leaving the parliament building, a group of NE soldiers personally led by  SFRricraz63 ambushed  Bawhoppen and his bodyguards. The NE force greatly outnumbered the U.S. guards, and one U.S. guard was knocked out. U.S. forces yielded, and  Bawhoppen was taken into captivity by the NorthernEmpires.

12 August - 4 September: August Phase

On August 12th,  everminingkid was elected President of the United Steves of America, winning 63% of the vote. He pledged a diplomatic mission to secure  Bawhoppen's release.

For the month of August, low-intensity conflict continued in the midst of high-level diplomatic talks in the background. No major battles or occupations occurred during this period, with only small-scale skirmishes happening.

5 September: VillageTown Summit

Following weeks of backroom negotiations between President  everminingkid, a meeting, hosted at VillageTown by  Tistan01, was held on 5 September 2026 to discuss peace terms.  everminingkid took a conciliatory approach, apologizing on behalf of the United Steves for the beginning of the war, while seeking  Bawhoppen's release.  SFRricraz63 responded positively, but demanded several terms, including  Bawhoppen being indefinitely barred from holding United Steves office.  everminingkid accepted, and after resolving other unresolved items, such as recognizing the status of FishTown and ending the occupation of WoolStreet, both sides were in agreement and the Treaty of VillageTown was signed.  Bawhoppen was released shortly after, and the war thus concluded, establishing a treaty-bound alliance between the two nations.
