Zone, officially The Zone and formerly known as Mathaliah and EDIST, is an independent town originally established as a semi-autonomous district adjacent to Nebuley. It imposes strict regulations on architecture, aiming to create a semi-futuristic town. It was founded in August 2023 by  samcarf with assistance from  ZEROCONDA. It gained full independance in October 2024. Generally, it is inactive except during summer.

Flag and color

The Zone’s official flag is a plain yellow vertical 3:1 banner, symbolizing wealth and prosperity, as the color yellow is associated with gold. It is also The Zone’s official color, and is in use in all signs where there is sufficient space to include a header/footer to denote its affiliation with The Zone.

Regulations

The Zone has strict building rules in place to maintain aesthetic consistency and ensure that all constructions contribute to the town's intended look.

Building planification

Most buildings and constructions are planned in advanced using creative mode in a newer version of Minecraft with access to WorldEdit. They are designed to fit in perfectly within The Zone’s layout.

The Zone’s First Skyscraper

The Zone’s First Skyscraper, built when the city still was a district in Nebuley, was the largest project  samcarf undertook. With the help of  ZEROCONDA and  ooosaft and many others^[who?]. It is mainly constructed with wool, stone and glass, and was originally designed with abstract white patterns on the front. Its construction necessitated around 40 stacks of stone, 25 stacks of wool, glass, stone slabs and wooden planks among many other building materials.

The Nuclear Research Center

A Nuclear Research Center, initiated in July 2025 by  samcarf, with construction planned to end in late August 2026, is the second skyscraper and major building in The Zone. The original design was much bulkier and included a stone roof. The current updated design is simpler.

History

Foundation

The Zone was founded in August 2023 by  samcarf, with support from  ZEROCONDA.  samcarf wanted to create a district in which the only allowed buildings blocks would be sandstone, stone, bricks and wood. This idea was quickly scrapped and the district was now dedicated to futuristic buildings. At the beginning, The Zone consisted only of a bridge and a small "wishing well" with a rules board outlining strict architectural standards. Despite its promising start, The Zone was abandoned shortly after its founding and remained unused until June 2024.

Revival and Expansion

The Zone's First Skyscraper

In June 2024,  samcarf returned to The Zone, initiating its transformation into an active part of Nebuley. The first major construction was the Zone's First Skyscraper, and the wishing well was dismantled. The construction of the first skyscraper necessitated a very important effort, as a large area had to be dug out to make place for the skyscraper, since the original measurements made by  samcarf in creative mode in 1.21 did not accound for the limited block height of only 128 blocks. This effort was facilitated by the help of many players, most notably  Gazuzz,  ooosaft,  Ingrate and  ZEROCONDA. It was among the largest projects ever built in Nebuley. A border dispute near The Zone emerged in late June between Nebuley and Utiopia, a new town founded by  Atalaydavud, and other incidents followed soon, detailed in this page.

Highway to RainyCity

After the founding of RainyCity, a new town neighboring The Zone, a border treaty was signed and the first completed Nebuleyian highway, the RainyCity-Nebuley highway, was built and linked both towns through The Zone. Soon after, while Template:User-samcarf was expanding roads, the original bridge linking The Zone to Nebuley was removed, with the end goal of replacing it with a modern subway station that will be more aesthetically pleasing and could serve as a crossing point between Beetopia, Nebuley and RainyCity.

Independence from Nebuley

On October 27, 2024,  samcarf gained The Zone’s independence from Nebuley through negotiations with  Ingrate, its owner and founder.
