The Spawn Subway is a network of railway tracks underneath Spawn Town.
Origins
The Spawn Subway began as a idea from
Karl on 28th October of 2022, but unfortunately, wasn't worked on past a small indent in the wall, and a door with signs.
On 14 December of 2023, in the "Spawn Town - Public Forum",
Noggisoggi brought up the fact that the Spawn Subway was still unfinished and
aq2a made plans to build said subway but later forgot about it.
On 7 January 2024,
Garsooon asked if plans for the subway were underway yet and was told no and given the go-ahead to work on it, thus work commenced on the next day.
Phases
The Subway was planned in Phases to help simplify building and planning and give a clear roadmap.
Phase 1 was setting the ground work for the subway, that being the main structure the subway and accompanying redstone is housed in.
This lasted from 7th January till 12th January of 2024.
Phase 2 was dedicated to making the redstone framework used for the rail switcher, selection indication and minecart delivery system.
This phase lasted only one day, on 12th January 2024 and was the shortest by far.
Phase 3 was dedicated to line planning, and this phase was one of the most difficult as there are a lot of underground structures in spawn that can completely ruin a line if not planned for.
In particular, the Moon and Spawn Exit South Lines narrowly missing the Mall 2 player shops and
EternalllZM's shop respectively.
This phase started on 13th January and ended on 22nd Jan 2024.
Phase 4 was about setting up the subway to be functional to include setting up rail, linking the redstone switchboard from Phase 2 up to the rail as well as cart return.
This Phase started on 2024-01-20 and ended on 2024-02-27.
Phase 5 was the last and final phase of the Spawn Subway project, it started on 2024-02-27 and ended on 2024-03-12 .
This is where the subway started to come alive; this phase was dedicated to digging out and replacing the wall materials, adding lighting and decorations.
This phase was also dedicated to making the small stations (that the rails lead to) actually look good.

Trivia
- This project used 14911 double slabs, 4313 slabs and destroyed 11474 blocks not including blocks destroyed by TNT.
- The Spawn Exit North line selector doesn't actually do anything as it is the default track selected at all times.
- The Old Town Line was dug out completely by hand until tnt was acquired for the other tunnels.
- The Spawn Station Exit piston door was originally supposed to be iron double doors, but due to beta jank™ it was changed to pistons.
- The Cart Return system works in theory, but due to how beta 1.7.3 chunk loading works minecarts will not be loaded if outside of a players render distance
- The Moon line narrowly misses Mall 2 Player shops and Spawn Exit South almost hits EternalllZM's shop.
